Congratulations on your engagement! I got married in September 2016 in North Carolina and had a wonderful time. Now I'm ready for this beautiful gown to have a new, amazing experience!
I LOVED this dress. I didn't want something too lacy or traditional, so I chose this beaded gown, Galina #SWG688. I adored it and got so many compliments on it. It is a beautiful shade of ivory and has beading from the sweetheart bodice all the way to the knees, at which point it flares out into a mermaid tulle skirt. It hugged my curves and made me feel glamorous. It was stunning to spin in it while dancing!
I bought the size 14 to fit my large hips, but I'm only a 36B bra, so I made two alterations that can be easily undone with a seam ripper:
- two layers of cups sewn in
- beaded spaghetti straps (each of the two major straps had three smaller straps) were sewn in to help hold up the dress -- it's a little heavy and it would've slid off of my small boobs without it!
- not an alteration, but a side note: I have a slight tummy, so I wore Spanx underneath - but not all women would need to
I am just under 5'9", and the dress is a little longer than my height. I wore 3" heels for part of the day and the dress hung right above my toes. When I switched into flats, it just barely scraped the ground. As it was an outdoor wedding, it had minor grass stains, but it was recently professional cleaned and the only staining you can see is very slight (like millimeters), on the hem on the INSIDE of the innermost lining of the dress. So no one will ever know!
Little loops for the pickups of the bottom of the dress are sewn behind the knees. Totally unnoticeable but so handy!
This dress was a joy to me and made my day so wonderful. I truly hope it can bring even more joy to another bride! :)
